Project Management Training and Coaching

Baldus Consulting, LLC offers a variety of project management workshops based on PMI standards and best practices with an emphasis on practical application. After all, what good is a standard or a best practice if it cannot be applied in the “real world?” Each workshop is highly interactive and provides each participant the opportunity to learn, test, and perfect project management skills.

Coaching
Because it is often, if not unrealistically, difficult to take even practical application learnings from the classroom to the job, Baldus Consulting, LLC offers one-on-one and small group coaching. Coaching is
available as a follow up to workshops, as a stand-alone offering, or
through our Project Management Coaching and Immersion Program.

Project Management Coaching and Immersion Program
This program combines selected workshops with one-on-one coaching enabling project managers to apply what they learned to active projects under the guidance of anexperienced project management coach. The standard Coaching and Immersion program can be customized to fit your needs and budget.

Workshops
Project Management Fundamentals (3-day workshop)
Provides a hit-the-ground-running knowledge base necessary for project managers to get a project moving quickly and successfully. Heavy focus on effectively initiating and planning a project with additional activities to promote understanding of executing, monitoring and controlling and closing.

Working Your Project Plan (2 or 3-day workshop)
You’ve heard the adage “Plan your work then work your plan.” But it’s easier said than done…because things just don’t go according to plan. Learn and practice the tools and techniques that promote smooth project execution and appropriate corrective action.  Concepts include delegation, team building, communication, performance reporting, project politics and stakeholder management, change control, and project recovery.

The Nuts & Bolts of Project Management: Everyday Skills You Can Actually Use (2-day workshop)
Everyone works on projects in their everyday life. Learn how to use tools and techniques that help to manage the time, the work, and the money successfully. Use templates that will streamline the planning process so you can execute the activities more effectively without feeling overwhelmed.

Bare Bones Project Management (1-day workshop)
Intended for “informal” project managers who are responsible for delivering small projects with a one to three person team quickly, successfully, and without much administrative overhead. Learn how to define what “success” looks like, efficiently organize the work required to achieve that success, and clearly communicate your achievements to your stakeholders. Participants will define objectives, identify deliverables, create a work breakdown structure and schedule, and track and communicate progress.

Project Team Member Fundamentals (2-day workshop)
Every team member fulfills a different role, based on their strengths to complete business-critical projects. Learn how to support and  participate in the project management process, develop and refine your  project skills, and become an effective team member to ensure your projects come to a successful completion.

An Executive View of Project Management (.5 or 1-day workshop)
Intended for the executive leadership team, this half-day to full-day workshop enables you to link your organization’s strategic goals directly to the projects that will deliver on those goals. Executives and other leaders will leave the workshop with tools and techniques that will assist them in selecting the right projects, define and measure project success criteria, hold sponsors and project managers accountable for on time/on budget project delivery, and foster an environment of project success.

Strategic Behaviors of an Effective Project Sponsor (1-day workshop)
Coaching your project managers and staff through projects is a critical and strategic skill. Understand the project life cycle, project terminology, and your role in contributing to project success. Identify signals indicating when to you need to intervene on struggling projects; learn how to hold your project managers accountable; and understand what project management can do for your portfolio.

Mastering the Human Dynamic (2-day workshop)
Processes, tools, and techniques are great advantages to managing projects successfully, but it takes people to make projects work. Learn how to understand, communicate, and work effectively with team members, stakeholders, sponsors, and project champions. Discover how to build trust and use influence and negotiations successfully.

The Art of Juggling: Managing Multiple Projects (2-day workshop)
The more balls you have in the air while juggling, the more likely it is that one will fall. And, so it is with projects. Learn how to effectively manage multiple projects by examining dependencies, exploring conflicting resource demands, and capitalizing on opportunities.

Farmers, Chickens, and Pigs: Perspectives in Change Management (1-day workshop)
Project managers and teams can produce the best product, service, or process, but the bottom line result is change. Unfortunately, not all of our stakeholders define "change" and "good" synonymously. Learn how to analyze how change impacts stakeholders and how to overcome or leverage different perceptions of change.

PMP® Exam Prep Express (5-day workshop)
This preparatory workshop for the PMP® exam emphasizes the Project Management Institute's 5 process groups, 9 knowledge areas, and how to take a project in case study from "Initiate" to "Close." Participants will learn tools, techniques, and test taking strategies for the exam. The workshop concludes with a practice exam to help individuals identify their strengths and weaknesses in order to create their own unique action plan for test taking success.
